Flutterby

It all started [again] with a "one little Winnie the Pooh for a friend's grandchild as a Christmas gift."

Reading the profile for the EtsyTwitter Team Shop of the Week, crochetgal, I just had to smile when I got the that line.

One of my favs from her shop is this Lace Butterfly Shawl...made me think of the flutterby from Winnie the Pooh.

And look at this amazing Shrug! The detail is amazing and it has a bit of a vintage feel with the 3/4-sleeve and the oversized collar.
Crocheted Serendipity Shrug, Balsam with Metallic, custom ordered

From her profile:
Although I learned the art of crochet as a teenager in the 70s, it fell by the wayside as my life adventure took its path.

It resurfaced again at the start of the new millenium with one little Winnie the Pooh for a friend's grandchild as a Christmas gift. Before Winnie could even be delivered to that little one, friends were asking to purchase them from me. Little did I know that it would eventually turn into a small business. Within a few years, I was trying various methods of crochet, along with different pattern designs and before long I was actually designing a few simple pieces.

SPECIAL OFFER THIS WEEK ONLY: crochetgal is celebrating Christmas in July with 20% off all shawls 20% off a wide range of yarns, (some yarns are net 65% off reg retail price!)

Ready for Take Off!

Wanted to share this gorgeous photo from this month's Featured Etsy Blogger, Sykin. Many of the prints in Missie's NW Wonders shop are very tranquil...places I'd love to go.

Maybe it's my state of mind today, but this print inspires me. Feeling the need to Take Off?

Plus de papier, s'il vous plaît!

[TRANSLATION: More paper, please!]

The posts I do about my teammates are really fun, and I learn something new with each post. Whether it's the discovery of a new medium, a fun idea, or just getting to know someone a little more, I always find something.

This week, I learned that my EtsyTwitter Team buddy, Susan Brown of SalonDArte, is a graphic designer by trade as well. I knew there was something I liked about her!

Susan's attention to detail is obvious when you look at her wonderful paper creations, and her paper Christmas ornaments are amazing!

From her profile:
My SalonDArte Etsy Shop features: Fine Art - Paper Arts - Cards & Such created by Mixed Media Artist Susan M. Brown [sbartist]. Whatever tickles my creative fancy.

My inspiration: art history and Paris...

The Salon (French: Salon), or rarely Paris Salon (French: Salon de Paris), beginning in 1725 was the official art exhibition of the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Paris, France. Between 1748–1890 it was the greatest annual or biannual art event in the western world. Since 1881 it was organized by the Société des Artistes Français.

Appréciez le spectacle!

SPECIAL OFFER THIS WEEK ONLY: Celebrate Christmas in July! Now through July 11th, all items in her shop will have FREE US domestic First Class shipping. No coupon code necessary.
