October Means Candy Corn

It's the first day of October. I think about that and I experience a small anxiety attack while simultaneously doing a little happy dance.

October means Halloween...fun for the kids, costume planning, fall weather, pumpkins and candy corn. It's also my mental start to the holidays (begin minor panic attack).

My solution? Have a sale. Let's celebrate the start of October!

Use the code CANDYCORN and save 15% off everything at www.PunkyJane.com now through October 5th.

That was easy. I feel better already.

Plus de papier, s'il vous plaît!

[TRANSLATION: More paper, please!]

The posts I do about my teammates are really fun, and I learn something new with each post. Whether it's the discovery of a new medium, a fun idea, or just getting to know someone a little more, I always find something.

This week, I learned that my EtsyTwitter Team buddy, Susan Brown of SalonDArte, is a graphic designer by trade as well. I knew there was something I liked about her!

Susan's attention to detail is obvious when you look at her wonderful paper creations, and her paper Christmas ornaments are amazing!

From her profile:
My SalonDArte Etsy Shop features: Fine Art - Paper Arts - Cards & Such created by Mixed Media Artist Susan M. Brown [sbartist]. Whatever tickles my creative fancy.

My inspiration: art history and Paris...

The Salon (French: Salon), or rarely Paris Salon (French: Salon de Paris), beginning in 1725 was the official art exhibition of the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Paris, France. Between 1748–1890 it was the greatest annual or biannual art event in the western world. Since 1881 it was organized by the Société des Artistes Français.

Appréciez le spectacle!

SPECIAL OFFER THIS WEEK ONLY: Celebrate Christmas in July! Now through July 11th, all items in her shop will have FREE US domestic First Class shipping. No coupon code necessary. The shipping cost will already be adjusted. For international shipping, please convo her for invoice with shipping cost.

A Passion for Vintage

Take a look around the EtsyTwitter Team Shop of the Week, Regal Cottage, and you'll see the passion that owner Regina has for vintage fabrics and style. I just love how she combines old and new fabrics in her creations! The bright colors, wonderful textures, and her obvious attention to detail make Regina's work stand out.

She wants her designs to excite kids – to make clothes they "can't wait to wear. Fun, color, comfort, and style are my priorities when I am designing my products," says Regina.

What baby wouldn't LOVE this colorful Fortune in the Sun Regal Baby Ball?

And this adorable Matryoshka tank is part of Regina's Buy 2 Get 2 Free sale:

From her profile:
I am a stay-at-home mom of 4 kids. All of the items that you find in my store have been throughly tested by me and my kids. You'll find all of our favorites here. Each item is made one at a time, and can be customized just the way you like it.

Sewing is a big escape for me. I find sewing to be a great stress reliever (and trust me, with 4 kids, I've got plenty of stress)! My kids are very crafty too, and often create things right along side me. We have a lot of fun creating together.

SPECIAL OFFER THIS WEEK ONLY: Buy Any 2 T-shirts, Get 1 Free! RegalCottage special deal this week...free shirt will be refunded via Paypal.

Showcasing a "Limitless Imagination"

This week's Etsy Twitter Team Shop of the Week, BRefour offers original art and note cards created by Betty Refour and her sister, Rose, who has autism.

Both artists use bright colors in small spaces, offering art that is both visually appealing and affordable. Betty says much of her inspiration comes from fabric and architecture. She loves art because, "with art there are no boundaries... limitless imagination." Betty is very inspired these days--she has joined a local 'daily painting group'!

The art of BRefour is internationally known. Her stellar customer feedback reflects the quality of product and service. Not only does Betty offer products that are made with care, but a portion of the shop's proceeds is donated to charity.

From her profile:
I lost my grandmother to Breast Cancer, my mother to Myeloma and my sister has Autism so I am always looking for ways to advocate for these causes as well as other causes that are important to me.

You can also learn more about Betty and Rose in this wonderful article by Lois of  FoxyGKnits.

SPECIAL OFFER THIS WEEK ONLY: This week, Betty is offering a special Etsy Twitter Team Shop of the Week Discount! 50% off all items in the SALE section. Use code SOTW in notes to seller and she will send you a revised invoice.

Filled with Whimsy

I'm excited to share the talents of this week's EtsyTwitter Team Shop of the Week: Pretty Whimsical.

I must admit that when I'm in need of a little pick-me-up, I often find myself browsing her shop and I always end up smiling!

From her profile:
I express myself through arts and crafts. I have been drawing, painting, crafting and sewing since childhood. I fill my surroundings with bright, cheerful colors and love using fun, whimsical designs in my pendants. I collect antiques and items that remind me of my country upbringing. I'm a full time wife and mother and appreciate the opportunity to sell my jewelry on etsy.
These are just a few of my favs from this super talented artisan:

EtsyTwitter Team Shop of the Week ::
Beadwork by Amanda

My personal favorite from Beadwork by Amanda:
Twilight Zone Resin Pendant

REPOSTED WITH PERMISSION FROM http://etsytwitter.blogspot.com/
[originally

I’ve personally had the pleasure of getting to know Amanda Preske, the woman behind BeadworkbyAmanda.etsy.com, over the last year doing the local craft fair circuit in Rochester, NY. She is a chemistry student at Rochester Institute of Technology. Her love for science shows in her artistic endeavors as her beadwork reminds me of complex molecules. She creates pendants using recycled circuit boards with resin as well as beadwoven necklaces and bracelets. She can turn her circuit board pendants into key chains if you so desire.

“I've been making jewelry for half my life! When I was about ten years old, one of my aunts gave be a box of seed beads in an assortment of beautiful, sparkly colors. I've spent many years since then teaching myself how to weave beads on and off a loom as well as other beading techniques. I've recently discovered the versatility in creating with resin. I love interacting with people from all over the world and believe that customer service is of utmost importance when selling my jewelry.

“I absolutely love color, so creating usually starts with a tube of really fun beads. I love the tropics so don't be surprised to find bright colors and a touch of the Caribbean! I also find inspiration from fabric scraps, scrapbook paper, and interesting focal beads.”

On Twitter she loves “to follow what people are doing and help if I can. Since I am a senior studying chemistry, I once helped someone with their chemistry homework through Twitter. I think that actively being a part of Twitter is more enjoyable than robotically posting.”

Amanda is also a member of several Etsy teams: Etsy in Color Team, Etsy Teens and Young Adults Team, Etsy Beadweavers, and Rochester New York Etsy Street Team.

Go Green with the Etsy Twitter Team!

To share all the awesome eco-benefits and beauty of recycled, repurposed, reinvented, one of a kind, handmade items, how-tos, tips, ideas and more on making going green a habit even your mother will approve of!

The Etsy Twitter Team is throwing an eco-party, and YOU are invited!

From July 21st to July 27th, the authority on Twitter for all things handmade, will be offering a summer feast of cool tips, suggestions, awesome handcrafted genius and a scavenger hunt with lots of eco-friendly prizes for the winner on the team’s blog http://etsytwitter.blogspot.com.

“People don’t always realize how easy it can be to ‘go green’. Our goal is to show them not only the beauty of handmade items that reuse, recycle and repurpose things which would otherwise have been discarded, but also to share tips and suggestions for eco-friendly habits in everyday life,” says Etsy Twitter Team Co-Leader Kristen Evans, owner of FirebirdHouse Designs.

The team, which uses Twitter to expand its reach to a global audience, thinks that “Going Green” is far more than just a sales pitch. “We really want to dispel the myth that items that are ‘green’ have to be expensive or time-consuming to find, and encourage people to think of ways they can conserve the most valuable resource we have, which is the Earth itself. This is one way to really turn people on to the idea of buying responsibly and learning how to find items which support rather than harm, our natural resources,” says Vickie Porter, the team’s leader and the artist/owner behind the recycled domino jewelry of InMyHeadStudios.

She feels that supporting green initiatives are part of meeting the Etsy Twitter Team's mission to become the authority on Twitter for all things handmade. “The handmade lifestyle is an important piece of the eco-puzzle and we want to be sure and share that with the rest of the world, on Twitter and off.”

Many team members will be showcasing brand new products during this week-long party. Be sure to check out http://etsytwitter.blogspot.com for more details, and watch for more exciting news about exclusive specials and giveaways!

EtsyTwitter Team Shop of the Week ::
Rocki's Supplies

Deb "Rocki" Adams, of RockisSupplies.etsy.com, creates “handcrafted metalwork findings & jewelry in a variety of finishes using Sterling Silver, Fine Silver, 14k Gold Filled & now Copper”. Her signature pieces are Elfin Ear wires and they are stunning. “A couple years ago, when I was selling in my old Etsy shop, I made my own ear wires for my jewelry and started getting requests for my Signature Elfins. So, I started selling them in that shop and it took off from there.” What a nice way to get a start in selling handmade supplies!

When you look at Rocki’s Supplies shop for the first time it’s easy to assume the items are not handmade simply because they are so perfect! But her jewelry findings really are handmade!! It’s amazing! Including handmade findings in your handmade jewelry would definitely increase the value of your work as a whole. Plus you’re buying handmade for your supplies and everybody wins!

“My tag line pretty much sums it up that my findings are more than supplies, they are ‘Handcrafted Pieces of Art For Your Artistic Creations’ - I truly put my heart and soul into my work and although my days are quite long, I value the integrity of each piece I make and customer care is most important to me. I appreciate each customer and am thrilled when they share their creations with me - makes my heart happy!”

What inspires Rocki to create? “I have this inner fire that I never knew existed until several years ago - out of bad situations come good things. You know, ‘when life throws you lemons, make lemonade!’ I honestly eat, sleep, dream, and wear metal - including my mouth! Yep, braces. I have come up with new creations in the weirdest ways - from relaxing in my pool, looking at fixtures around my home, walking through hardware stores - you name it. Even my hubby gets into coming up with ideas! But, I must say that my customers inspire me tremendously! From brand new requests to tweaking some of my current work, I have made some very cool findings.”

Special Offer for this week only: For any purchase made during the week of this blog feature, she will include a small free sample, one per customer. All you have to do is mention you found her via the "Twitter Blog Feature" in "Message to Seller" at time of purchase.
