Look What Punky Found: The ampersand, my favorite little character!

It's no secret that the ampersand is one of my favorite little characters. Did you know that the ampersand symbol comes from making a combination of Latin letters for 'and' and 'et?'

Based on the vast number of oh, so fun ampersand-inspired pieces on Etsy, I'm not the only one who loves this little conjunction. Here are some of my favorites...

Since we've been experiencing such a mild winter in our area, this light cotton Pashmina scarf would make a perfect California accessory. Even better is the fact that it's hand stamped with ampersands by ShebboDesign. If cream isn't your color, she has a couple of others to choose from.

I couldn't leave out the ampersand inspired office supplies and paper goods could I?

Even though we are well into February, it feels like 2014 just started. (Anyone else having the same problem?) A personalized planner would be great...especially with an ampersand on the front.

I just love this typographic print with lots of ampersands by Quotational. If green isn't your favorite, they have various palettes to choose from.

Look What Punky Found: Quotation Calendar

'2014 Handwritten Quotation Calendar' by Lettergirl

We're crazy about calendars (in any form) in the Punky Jane Studio...big surprise right?

As I perused Etsy a few days ago, I stumbled upon this handwritten quotation calendar by one of my favs, Gina Selesky of Lettergirl. Each month combines a calendar and an inspirational hand lettered quotation, plus a doodle or two.

It amazing how Gina can take something as simple as hand writing and make it into something truly beautiful. I absolutely love her various handwritten lettering styles and doodles!

One of her calendars would be a perfect holiday gift for any calendar lover, typrography lover, or anyone who needs an inspirational pick me up.

Be sure to take a look around her shop. She also creates personalized address and name stamps in your choice of her hand lettered fonts. But even cooler is a 'Love Your Letters' self-paced workshop to improve your own handwriting!

Look What Punky Found: "Be so good they can't ignore you."

I'm going to slip off my cruel shoes and settle in to share this iconic quote by one of my favorite comedians and actors, Steve Martin.

"Be so good they can't ignore you."

Brilliant. This is his advice when asked how to make it in the entertainment business, but it's important as a maker as well.

It's so easy to get caught up in 'keeping up' instead of focusing on what you do and creating your best work.

This wonderful print by Ex Libris Journals on Etsy is done on a vintage book page and would look great hanging wherever you need to be reminded. If you've got a bookie or type lover in your life, this is a great shop to find the perfect gift.

Now I want the letter 'M' stricken from the English language.

[Tell me there at least a few of you out there who now what I'm talking about!]

Memo Clips by Zo-Be Designs

Feeling the need to be organized this morning. Probably a direct result of NOT being very organized at the moment. And maybe that it's Monday.

Found these sweet little Memo Clips by Zo-Be Designs that might just do the trick, AND add a bit of style to the process.

I just love the simplicity of the design, and as you may have guess, anything that combines typography and function is a hit with me.

Filled with Whimsy

I'm excited to share the talents of this week's EtsyTwitter Team Shop of the Week: Pretty Whimsical.

I must admit that when I'm in need of a little pick-me-up, I often find myself browsing her shop and I always end up smiling!

From her profile:
I express myself through arts and crafts. I have been drawing, painting, crafting and sewing since childhood. I fill my surroundings with bright, cheerful colors and love using fun, whimsical designs in my pendants. I collect antiques and items that remind me of my country upbringing. I'm a full time wife and mother and appreciate the opportunity to sell my jewelry on etsy.
These are just a few of my favs from this super talented artisan:

This is SO true around my house!

This week's special: Buy two pendants and get one free. (Note: Do not add free pendant to your cart. Simply add the name of the pendant you would like free in the “Message to Seller” section of your checkout form.) Don’t forget to add your chain onto your order if you need one!
